I had a big long contemplative post for today, looking back on the past year, and all that has gone on in our little life, here on the Homestead, but I decided not to inflict it upon you. I might do a shorter recap, if I can do so in an interesting manner. It sure has been a busy year, filled with some great new experiences, including a new baby girl, and I'm looking forward to 2010 and all that has in store.
Dad and Mom brought a gift for the girls, today. It was going to be a Christmas Gift, and I guess it still is, but it wasn't ready on Christmas. Over a year ago I saw a great toy box on Etsy that I totally fell in love with. I showed it to Dad and we got to work cutting it out. Well, I got pregnant, we both got busy, and it has sat, unfinished, until sometime in December. Dad and Mom decided to finish it for Christmas. They did a beautiful job. I painted the graphic, Dad did most of the woodworking, and mom helped with the wood trim and finish. They finished it with an all natural beeswax oil blend, Yay! We used the formaldehyde free birch plywood to make it, also. The box took one full size sheet of plywood, with very little waste. The casters on the bottom are locking, so once in place it won't be easily moved about the room. I couldn't be more thrilled, and it's giving me some serious incentive to work on the Play Room!
We opted for no top because I see no need. The toys being in there and organized is far more important than keeping them out of site, and this way, no one will have their fingers pinched. The book shelves on the side are great for their really tall books that don't fit on her regular book shelf. Mini was excited and immediately picked a toy off the floor to put in it. She later pulled all the books off the shelves and used them as little houses for her nativity and peg people.
I spent the day working. If you are a fellow bead maker, I released some new tools, the Square Disks, so go check them out. I'm also running a sale on my website.
