How many days in a row can I use the same title? Another long day of canning. I got less done, but I did stop to work and actually made dinner tonight, where yesterday Husband took the girls to Chipotle's, while Jessica and I mused about the absurdity of my family having to eat out, because I was preserving local food. Ahhh. Life is amusing.
Today 14 more quarts of pears, 12 half pints of apple butter, and several gifty size jars of pear jam were put away. I also jarred up the leftover apple sauce from yesterday, and lost track, but something 39 more quarts.
I'm going to do an inventory once I'm done. I'm very excited to put numbers to all these jars. They have taken over my kitchen, and are stacked on every flat surface that doesn't interfere with regular life. They need to move, because while I love looking at all the jars, and they do add a very homey feel to this home of ours, they are not supposed to be stored with access to the sunlight, as it degrades the food, and food quality. So, after the inventory, they need to move...to figure out where.
The recipe I used for the pears was from the same site that is running the Sourdough E-Course I've been raving about for weeks. It is delicious and I will be making more, for sure!
Oh,and about the sourdough, I sent a little bit of Irma out into the world the other day. Virginia wants to give Sourdough a try, so I gave her a cup of Irma to get started with. I hope she does as well for Virginia as she's done from me.
